This is one of my favorite places on earth, Mount Edith Cavell. This is Cavell Pond. The wonderful emerald colored water is from the minerals in the melting glacier. To the right, unseen in this image, is Angel Glacier. It’s melting waters, along with the glacial remains around the pond, fills the pond. The rich ore in the rocks gives that amazing color. My image does not really give you a sense of size. It’s huge. You can feel the stopping of time here. The glacier clawed down then back up the side of the mountain. Yet, it remains so peaceful. I have hiked up here, always with a camera and my Irish Setter dog. All five of my Irish Setters have been with me to this spot. Quinn was companion on this trip.
