Morning Hot Air Balloon launches are exciting and colorful. When a balloon inflates, it’s first done with two huge high speed wood prop fans. They are placed on opposite sides blowing into the open “mouth” of the balloon. They are laid out facing the rising sun, so the result is, from the inside, the balloon top looks like a stained glass window.
This is Rainbow Balloon’s flagship balloon. They always had the happy face on the crown. To this day I associate the happy face with this hot air balloon.
As the fans fill the two story envelope, it rises taunt. At the perfect time, I stepped into the windstorm expanding the balloon for this shot.
