I created this image in the Galleria Nazionale in Cortona, Italy. It’s a gallery full of stunningly colorful paintings displayed in this very historic building. The Director, Gian Maria Cosignani, let us move the art around to open up areas to photograph. I have no idea how old this skinny store is but it is in the heart of Cortona town square. The only light we had was from this window high up. Nicole, one of two sisters I was working with that day, had brought along this delightful hat that gives the image such an elegant air.
